What you can import

HR › Bulk import loads seven kinds of record: employees, attendance punches, leave opening balances, salaries, monthly payroll inputs, candidates and holidays. Each tile shows the columns it expects and a sample row; a kind you lack the permission for is greyed out with the reason.

Create departments, designations and locations first — the employee sheet refers to them by name.

How an import runs

  1. Download the template for the kind of record, or upload your own sheet.
  2. Map your columns to ECN People's fields.
  3. Validate. Every row is checked and problems are listed by line number. Nothing is saved yet.
  4. Fix the sheet and upload again, or import the rows that passed.
  5. If something went wrong, undo the import from its history.

Only one import runs at a time per company; a stuck lock releases itself automatically.

Moving from another HR system

Export employees, salaries and leave balances from the old system as Excel, then import them here in that order. For payroll in the middle of a financial year, also load year-to-date figures (Payroll › year-to-date import) so TDS stays right — see Set up payroll.
